aaaa

Anything, anytime, anywhere architecture [but different now] focuses on how the 2020 pandemic has assigned new roles to urban public space. Abruptly halting ubiquitous temporary urban food and event scenes, aaaa considers the role of (and need for) mobile structures that are quickly transformed and redeployed to engage new (though historically not unique) definitions of publicness. Prototypes of mobile micro-architectures catalyze forms of ‘distanced publicness. aaaa transformations include: ’Pop-up food shop [to FEMA meal distribution] / Rave stage [to demonstration platform] / Hothouse flower production [to medicinal herb sharing] / Coffee hut [to medical testing station] / Ornamental greenhouse [as city (still) beautiful] / Pop-up retail [to outdoor classroom] / Fresh produce stand [to socially distanced strawberry picking]

aaaa has been produced in two versions, as part of an Instagram series called #UrbanismBeyondCorona [2020] and as un sueño de cualquier tarde (a dream of any afternoon), finalist for Competition Arquine No. 23 [2021].
